What is laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is an attractive, laminated material consisting of several layers that are bound together in a laminated structure. The top layer is called the wear layer, and it protects against scratches, stains, and more.
The bottom layer is called the backing material, which supports both stability and comfort underfoot. It’s also non-porous, so water won’t soak through into your subfloor below!

Our laminate waterproof flooring is a layered floor built around a watertight, glued High Density Fibre (HDF) board. All Quick-Step laminate floors consist of four different layers:

A transparent, wear-resistant overlay providing protection against stains, impact, scratches, burns and household chemicals.
A design layer: a high-resolution photo of real wood that is reproduced with sophisticated printing techniques and finished with melamine resin.

Best Way to Care for Laminate Flooring

Cleaning

Wipe up spills as soon as they happen. If a spill occurs on the floor, carefully use a dry, absorbent cloth to wipe up any liquid and then allow it to dry. Do not use water or any other cleaning products. You may also want to try an area rug under your furniture, which can help with spills.

Maintaining

Laminate floors should be dusted regularly and vacuumed at least once a week to keep them looking their best. You can also use a damp mop to dust the floor, but make sure your mop is only damp – too much water can cause warping in your laminate floors.

What is the disadvantage of laminate flooring?

Standard laminate can swell or lift at the seams if it’s exposed to standing water, which is why it’s traditionally kept out of bathrooms and laundries. Our waterproof laminate range gets around this with a watertight HDF core, so it’s a better fit for those spaces than standard laminate would be. Like any laminate, it also can’t be sanded or refinished like solid timber if it gets damaged.

Is it better to have laminate or vinyl flooring?

Is laminate or hybrid flooring better?
